Self-made business apps
The video you see below is about initiative, curiosity, and the desire to solve problems. In my role as Creative Consultant and Chief Video Producer, I wrote the interview outline, coached the interviewee, and edited the final video, bringing his story of building a self-made business app to life.

Case Study
Self-made business apps
A global, employee-led enablement program for building self-made apps to solve business problems.
-
KION Group needed an integrated communications campaign to enable its global workforce to create their own business apps with Microsoft’s Power Platform.
-
As Creative Consultant and Chief Video Producer, I did the following:
– Advised on content strategy and narrative development from the original brief, shaping what the campaign would be before a single frame was shot or edited.– Coordinated on-location video shoots as well as the UGC self-shoots like in the video above.
– Filmed on-location across Germany, interviewing talented employees who made their own apps.
– Edited each video (on-location or self-shot) into powerful narratives, showcasing not just the apps, but the people that built them.
– Oversaw ingestion and cataloguing of footage from all shoots.
– Edited all videos independently: audio mix, music, licensed Merck stock footage, visual effects, and graphics.
– Localized with subtitles for key EMEA markets to support internal distribution across every function.
-
The videos were distributed internally to rave reviews. The “citizen developer” employees felt like superstars, and Power Platform adoption rose by 30% across the board.
-
It’s one thing to rollout a new technology for your workforce and tell them what it can do, but to actually showcase real colleagues utilizing the technology makes all the difference. Having powerful success stories of regular people drives both camaraderie as well as adoption.
